Rafting routes on the Una

R1 - Štrbački buk → Japodski otoci

This stage is considered among the most attractive sections of the Una River for a reason. The adventure begins right below the impressive 23.5-meter-high Štrbački buk, which is also the most demanding part of the tour. During the descent, you will have the opportunity to explore natural caves, refresh yourself at the sources of drinking water with a temperature of only 7 °C, and try jumping from rocks and bridges. The section is 16 km long, and the entire descent, depending on the water level and planned stops, takes about 3 hours on average.

Frequently asked questions about rafting on the Una River

Basic swimming skills can add to your safety and comfort, but whitewater rafting is an activity that even non-swimmers can enjoy – thanks to top-notch equipment (including life jackets) and experienced guides. However, on more demanding stages, such as the one inside the Una National Park, basic swimming skills are mandatory due to the strict application of safety protocols. On the other hand, the stage Kostel - Grmuša (Paradise route) is also suitable for non-swimmers, with the constant supervision of a guide.

We recommend comfortable clothing and footwear that you can get wet - a bathing suit or sportswear such as shorts and swimming trunks, and a short-sleeved T-shirt made of quick-drying material. Also, for hygiene reasons and practicality, it's a good idea to bring spare water shoes that you can get wet. If you do not have such equipment, we also provide neoprene suits and shoes.

The season lasts from spring to autumn. Spring and early summer bring higher water levels and more dynamic rapids, providing an adrenaline experience, while summer and early autumn are ideal for a more relaxed descent with the possibility of longer swimming in warmer water. However, each season has its advantages and disadvantages - Una is always navigable, so you don't have to worry too much about the season.

Rafting is often held on rainy days, as higher water levels can bring an extra dose of adrenaline. In case of dangerous weather conditions (storms, strong winds), tours are adjusted or postponed, and our team will inform you in a timely manner. Sometimes light summer rains are even part of the adventure.

Reservations are recommended for rafting, especially in high season (weekends, holidays). We advise you to contact us and check the availability for your desired arrival date in order to secure your place.

Our boats usually accommodate 6–8 people plus a guide. If you are traveling in a larger group, we can organize several rafts at the same time.

We provide waterproof bags for our guests, so you can capture the best moments. However, we recommend that you consult your guide before departure, as there are often short breaks or specific opportunities for safe photography.

Absolutely - the Paradise route stage (Kostela - Grmuša) is especially ideal for families. Children can participate with appropriate safety equipment and the presence of experienced guides. On more demanding stages, such as the stage that goes below Štrbački buk, children are only allowed if they are older (at least 14 years old) with the consent of their parents and with their presence.

Stage R1 is designed for those who are looking for an adrenaline experience - the most demanding part of the tour. The adventure begins right below the impressive Štrbački buk, where you have the opportunity to explore natural caves, refresh yourself at springs with water of only 7 °C, and try jumping from rocks and bridges. The section is 16 km long, and the descent takes about 3 hours on average, depending on the water level and stops.
Stage R2 offers a more relaxed experience, ideal for families and those looking for a vacation. In this part of the Una, the water is warmer, which makes it more suitable for longer swimming and adventurous swimming. The stage is 14 km long and lasts approximately 2.5 hours, with additional opportunities to enjoy sandy beaches and jumps from smaller rapids. Note: On Stage R1, boats can capsize in some situations, which is part of the adrenaline rush – so if you're prone to panic, keep that in mind.
